Lori Potter

1st Grade Teacher

Hi! My name is Lori Potter and I have the privilege of being a 1st Grade Teacher here at Sabin. I joined Sabin’s 1st grade team in 2014 and feel truly fortunate to work with the students and faculty here.

I grew up on a small farm near Pittsburgh, PA and attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science. Prior to moving to Denver, my husband and I lived in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. After 14 years working to clean up chemical spills and hazardous waste Superfund sites, I decided I was ready for a career change. I began to work as a paraprofessional at DPS’s Lincoln Elementary in 2008. This led me on a path that helped me discover my love for teaching. During the 2013-2014 school year, I spent my teaching residency year with Janine Logar and Sabin’s 5th grade team and earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Urban Education.

I live in Denver with my husband and two boys, who are now in their teenage years. We have an Aussie named Waffles and two parakeets, Spaz and Taz. When able, I enjoy camping, hiking, and running.
